What a splendid idea! I’ll follow up on this. Thank you…
I enjoyed discovering your blog, too!
PS: Looks like he just won another Pura Belpré for 2012 — for The Cazuela That the Farm Maiden Stirred!
Hi Joy, I am assuming you are in the San Diego area (UCSD) and I was wondering if you have ever interviewed local artist/illustrator Rafael Lopez for your blog. He is the 2010 Pura Belpré Illustrator award winner for his work in Pat Mora’s Book Fiesta! His son goes to school with my children, and he has created three beautiful murals on our campus. I think he’d be a great illustrator for your blog.
I’m not an illustrator myself, but I love your site. Such amazing artwork. Truly lovely.
Hi Robin! Thanks for inquiring. I’m still working with UCSD on the dates for my next round of sessions. There will be announcements here, and on my public Facebook page, Got Story?, soon as I know.
New to this site as I came across it from the SCBWI website. Are you going to have another drawing class soon?
Paste this into your browser after January 27th, 2012:
April 5-May 31, Thursday evenings, 6-9pm, nine sessions.
Or call 858-534-5760 after 1/27/12
Hi Lori! Good seeing you here! Hope all is well ~ Joy
@ Everyone: Check out Lori’s books here.
I have an interview with a Kendall College of Art and Design student, printed in the Jan/Feb 2011 issue of Skipping Stones magazine. You are able to link to the article at my website’s homepage. She did ask some good questions. f.y.i.
Happy New Year~~!

The Got Story Countdown is where we share tips for children's book illustrators.
We focus on items relevant to the hearts and minds of children's story-telling artists and their partners —editors, authors, art director/designers, and their cheerleaders.
We invite published illustrators and their partners (editor, art director/designer, author, or other associates) to answer questions about their process.
You are welcome to join in, as long as you stay on topic. Got Story?
